Russell Dunn and Barbara Delaney will present a program on waterfalls in New York State and their use as industrial power.  They have explored most of the waterfalls of New York State and have written several books on waterfalls and trails in the Adirondacks and  Catskills'.

Mail and Milk -- June 16th, 2008

Presented By Barton MacDougall

Barton MacDougall a lifelong resident of Duanesburg and well known to the area will speak from his own experiences on "Mail and Milk".   Barty as he is known is well qualified to speak on this subject as his mother Betty MacDougall carried mail from the post offices to the train station for many years.  His family was also in the milk production and delivery business for many years.

Annual Picnic -- July 13th, 2008

July 13 will be our annual picnic.  This year we will meet at the old farm homestead of our Town Historian Arthur Willis and his wife Judy.

 The homestead is located on Darby Hill out of Quaker Street.

We will meet at 6 PM.

Bring a dish to pass, table ware, and a chair.

The Railroad Telegrapher -- August 18th, 2008

Presented By Norman S. Collins

Society Vice president Norman Collins will present a program on the Railroad Telegrapher.

 The railroad telegrapher has been a forgotten man in railroading, but a very important employee for early communication.  Mr. Collins will review the beginning of telegraphy with the invention of the Morse Code by Samuel F. B. Morse and its influence in America transportation and industry.
